| This is somewhat impressive... In 1995 (strike-shortened year) he went 19-2 with a 1.63 ERA (262 ERA+), 0.811 WHIP, 0.99 BB/9IP, 181:23 (7.87:1) K:BB ratio. He did all that averaging 86.57 pitcher per start (69.6% strikes) and 7.49 innings per start (11.43 pitcher per inning). He only gave up 4 or more ER twice in 28 starts (only 38 ER total). In 9 or his starts he allowed 0 ER, 10 of his starts he allowed 1 ER. Basically in 67.9% of his starts he gave up 1 or 0 ER. That's insane! He never gave up more than 5 ER in a single. start. The two games he lost: 8IP, 5ER, 7K, 1BB (game score of 50) 6.2IP, 5ER, 8K, 5BB (game score of 41). That 5 walk performance is pretty unusual for him - it was the only time all year he gave up at least 3 in a single game. In fact, in his career (707 starts) he's only walked 5+ batters 20 times (most recently 5/19/2006). He walked 23 batters while winning 19 games. If not for that start he might have had more wins than walks a feat that's very difficult to accomplish. He came very close in 1997 with 19 wins and 20 walks.
