He went 2-4 today with a HR (career HR 399) to raise his average to .409.

In case anyone is wondering, to qualify you need 3.1 plate appearances per team game. Jones needs 252. For the sake of simplicity let's assume he gets 0 walks/HBPs in those plate appearances (yeah right) and then gets hurt and out for the season after the 252nd one...

He's currently 89-213 and with 252 more ABs would have 465 on the year. 40% of 465 is 186 so if Jones gets exactly 252 more at bats he needs 97 more hits...in other words he needs to hit .353 the rest of the way to do it. The only problem with that is he'll likely get more than 252 more at bats so he'd be better off hitting .363+ the rest of the way. GO JONES!

Oh wow, these people on ESPN are incredibly stupid...

I'm watching NC State vs. Georgia on ESPN and they're talking about the Braves. They think Jones and Maddux should get consideration for the HOF and you could make an argument in favor of both of them. He'd put them in.

You think? 350 wins and Maddux "has an argument". He has 0 off the field issues and 350 wins. Every pitcher with 300 wins is in so how would 50 extra hurt his chances?

As for Jones. He's probably the greatest switch hitter since Mantle and his career likely has quite a bit left.

These two are first-ballot HOFers, not borderline candidates who are worth considering.

Jones pinch hit yesterday but walked. Average steady at .420. He can't bee too hurt if he can hit so he'll be back soon cross fingers

On one hand the Braves have a guy that is hitting .400 and on the other they have no pitchers, they keep getting hurt.
