| It's now almost Christmas, the shopping is done but without TIGERS baseball, I'm having no fun
I wait and I wait for the season to start there's nothing but emptiness deep in my heart
With Willis, Cabrera, and Renty now here the season looks promising, let's give a cheer
I'm now on vacation there's cheer and there's glee to all TIGERS fans, Merry Christmas, from me!! |

| I wrote this last summer. I'll give you one clue on what happened the previous day...
This is to the tune of Left Banke's "Walk Away Renee" (if you prefer Motown's Four Tops version )
And when Perez gets playing time in the field Everyone thinks that the game we have to yield
Just walk away Neifi, You don't have many fans on this board You were caught twice with some illegal stimulants You still can’t hit
Now we don’t have to see you until August Twenty Five days of sitting, you were a bust
Just walk away Neifi, You don't have many fans on this board 4 hundred grand of your paycheck of 2 mil gone You’re going down
Just walk away Neifi, You don't have many fans on this board You cheated and temperarly banned from the Tigers You should retire
In search of a new replacement is Raburn If he hits over .200, the spot is earned
Just walk away Neifi, You don't have many fans on this board Clear out your locker and don’t show us your face What a disgrace _________________

| Here's another! I need to start writing again...
To the tune of Johnny Rivers "Secret Agent Man".
There's a man who blows a lot of games Whenever he enters the mound, blood runs through my veins With every pitch he makes Another one’s a mistake Odds are he won't be our closer tomorrow
Roller Coaster man, Roller Coaster man They've given you a chance and taken away your pride
Beware of close games in the ninth One wrong pitch and the hitters laugh Ah, you’re walking a thin line If you keep missing the sign Odds are you won't be our closer tomorrow
Roller Coaster man, Roller Coaster man They've given you a chance and taken away your pride [repeat]
Saving your a- er job on one day And then giving up three runs on the next day Oh no, your inconsistency Has changed fans to enemies The odds are you won't live to close tomorrow
Roller Coaster man, Roller Coaster man They've given you a chance and taken away your pride
Roller Coaster man _________________

| Yet another one from last year. It was actually raining when I wrote this! If I remember right, that day's game was rained out!...
To the tune of CCR's "Who'll Stop the Rain".
Bullpen for the Tigers, The rain been comin' down. Can’t find a quality reliever, Confusion on the mound. Bought up through the minors, Tryin' to find a name; And I wonder, Still I wonder, Who'll stop the rain.
I went to Dombrowski, Seekin' answers to this flaw. ”Why don’t you fix this?,” He doesn’t know how. Come back Joel Zumaya, we need you just the same. And I wonder, Still I wonder, Who'll stop the rain.
Heard the telephone ringin', Who’ll come to the rescue? The offers rushed together, It’s been long overdue. Brad Lidge or Akinori Otsuka?, Either would be a gain. And I wonder, Still I wonder Who'll stop the rain. _________________

| Another repeat. Can you tell there's a writer's strike going on?...
This is to the tune of Vanity Fare's "Hitchin' a Ride"
Verlander is up, the Brewers are it Nobody assumed they wouldn’t get a hit Pitchin' a no hitter, pitchin' a no hitter What a magical night, that’s for sure
He’s only 24, now that’s insane And we finally have a complete game! Pitchin' a no hitter, pitchin' a no hitter What a performance by the young Verlander
Hitter, hitter, hitter, pitchin’ a no hitter Hitter, hitter, hitter, pitchin’ a no hitter
If not for 4 walks he would’ve been perfect But he struck out 12, what do you expect? Pitchin' a no hitter, pitchin' a no hitter I wish he could’ve copied Johnny Vander Meer
Hitter, hitter, hitter, pitchin’ a no hitter Hitter, hitter, hitter, pitchin’ a no hitter
102 heater to J.J. Hardy Then he flew out, now we can party Pitchin' a no hitter, pitchin' a no hitter Been a way too long by any Tiger
Hitter, hitter, hitter, pitchin’ a no hitter Hitter, hitter, hitter, pitchin’ a no hitter [repeat and fade] _________________

| Another guess on when this was written last year...
This is to the tune of Gary Puckett and the Union Gap's "Lady Willpower"
Casey no power, it's now or never. Hit your homer this year and you’ll wow Your fans with a blast of a grand slam.
I know you want a home run but it has been 11 weeks since the season begun. Pitcher Carlos Zambrano has two this year Even Neifi has nothing to fear Just hit it over the fence and join in the fun.
Casey no power, it's now or never. Hit your homer this year and you’ll wow Your fans with a blast of a grand slam.
Did no one ever tell you about playing 1st base? Well you’ll have to slug to play there. Thames, you better get ready If you can hit ‘em regularly And watching Casey sit won’t be rare.
Casey no power, it's now or never. Hit your homer this year and you’ll wow Your fans with a blast of a grand slam. [repeat and fade] _________________

| This could still apply today if we still had some of these pitchers. I guess I could change Maroth, Durbin and Miller with Willis, Robertson and Porcello, but then I'd have to change it to make it rhyme...
This is to the tune of "Don't Pull Your Love" by Hamilton, Joe Frank, and Reynolds
Don't pull your starters out too early, Leyland If you do, then I must be dreamin’ They can stay in, they’ve tried a hundred times. Don't pull young Justin Verlander If you do, then I just wonder You’ve gotta be out of your mind.
You say you're gonna leave the starters in little longer. You just may find out that they are a little stronger. When you see them give you 88 pitches when you watch them into the 8th, Why don’t you have any faith?
Don't pull your starters out too early, Leyland If you do, then there’s a reason They can continue, they’ve tried a hundred pitches. Don't pull stud Chad Durbin If you do, then there’s no certain That the bullpen won’t have any glitches.
Haven't they been good to you, haven’t they done alright. Don’t you want to see a complete game one of these nights? A perfect game or a no hitter would be much better, Is this why you bought up Andrew Miller?
Don't pull your starters out too early, Leyland If you do, then I must be lyin’ They can stay in, they’ve tried a hundred starts. Don't pull young Jeremy Bonderman If you do, then the mound can Only blame the ‘pen for falling apart.
There's so much they can win You can always leave them in You shouldn’t have to keep going to the ‘pen.
Don't pull your starters out too early, Leyland If you do, then they won’t end The game they’ve begun, they’ve tried a hundred ways. Don't pull lefty Mike Maroth If you do, then it must be tough To have to rely on the relievers everyday. [repeat and fade]
I actually wrote this before Verlander's no hitter. I'm posting these backwards for some reason. I posted this one on June 8th, 2007... _________________

| One clue on what game this refers to...
This is to the tune of CCR's "Bad Moon Rising".
I see a bad game a-pitching. I see trouble on the way. I see no outs and runs scoring. I see bad times today.
Don't go around tonight, Well, Leyland’s ‘bout to take you out, There's a bad pitcher in Robertson.
I hear Miller a-coming. I know the end is coming soon. I fear Robertson a-staying. I hear the ring of DD’s phone.
Don't go around tonight, Well, Leyland’s ‘bout to take you out, There's a bad pitcher in Robertson. All right!
Hope you got your things together. Hope you are quite prepared for the ‘pen. Looks like we're in for a breather. Someone better is coming in.
Well, don't go around tonight, Well, Leyland’s ‘bout to take you out, There's a bad pitcher in Robertson.

To the tune of "The Mighty Quinn" by Manfred Mann.
When he hits the balls, when he hits the bags, You'll not see nothing like the Mighty Maggs [repeat]
Everybody's voting for Ichiro and Manny Some are going with Torii Hunter, Others are rooting for Vladdy. Everybody's in despair, Every single fan. But when the all-star game gets here, Magglio is gonna be the man.
When he hits the balls, when he hits the bags, You'll not see nothing like the Mighty Maggs
Ordonez is first in doubles and knocked in runs. Don’t forget about slugging and batting average, He is also number one. Everyone's in the dark, They still cannot read. But when the all-star game gets here, Magglio is gonna be in the lead.
When he hits the balls, when he hits the bags, You'll not see nothing like the Mighty Maggs [repeat]
If you don’t do what you gotta do, if you can't decide at all Just look at Copa’s right field And that'll tell you who to call While you’re at it, also vote for Grandy, I-rod, and Polanco. But when the all-star game gets here, Magglio will be in San Fransisco.
