| The poetry thread has barely been used I guess everybody has not been a "mused" when baseball gets closer I hope there'll be verses i'll settle for limericks, haiku, and curses be sure that you mention a Tiger or three and a World Series title would fill us with glee but now there is nary a poet in sight so I say to you all, have a Tigerful night |

| So t-bob mentioned the poem I posted "over there" and I thought I'd post it again here, just because. Tis about my grandpa and I: In the same room, A hundred miles apart, Drawn together only, By the same passion of the park. Two decks up, Or right next to the field, You were a different man, Than had ever been revealed. Now I miss you most dearly, About once a year, When that time at the park, Comes back to me, so clear. I was young, you were old, But we were the same, Tied in together, By the love of the game. _________________ "Contrary to the wisdom of the bumper sticker, it is not enough these days to simply question authority-- you have to speak with it too."

| School's been a bitch My boss has been, too I've been too stinking busy to write even one Haiku. As warm weather gets closer and the school semester ends I hope to find more time in my life to make my ammends. I hope this contribution is the start of a trend and I hope I find more time so my negligence will end. _________________ "I'm glad we're in the other division," Terry Francona, manager of the East-winning Boston Red Sox, told the Associated Press. | I also want to do one on Inge's pillow injury but don't know what song to use. The reason I use songs is because I'm not creative enough to structure these things so I steal from the songs. Maybe I can use Little Anthony's " Tear's on my Pillow?" |

To the tune of 3 Dog Night's "Shambala"
Play Guitar Hero, hurt your wrist With reliever Joel Zumaya Moving boxes is such as injury risk With reliever Joel Zumaya

Everyone is thinking, everyone is wondering Injury-prone Zumaya Everyone is waiting, everyone is wondering Injury-prone Zumaya

How does your arm feel, in the likes of Zumaya? How does your arm feel, in the likes of Zumaya?
I can tell that you were really motor-biking by the road Injury-prone Zumaya I can tell that you were really motor-biking by the road Injury-prone Zumaya

| To the tune of the Beatles " I Should Have Know Better"... I should have known better than to move a pillow That I would end up injured and embarrassed too. And I do, hey, hey, hey, and I do. Whoa, whoa, I never realized they can move dangerously This could only happen to me; Can't you see, can't you see? That when I sleep in my bedroom, oh, That I can get injured like a loon, hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo, oh, And when I say my 3-year old is there too, You're gonna laugh at that one too. So, I should have realized a lot of things before If pillows are evil things than don’t give me anymore Don’t give anymore, hey hey hey, don’t give anymore Whoa, whoa, I never realized they can move dangerously This could only happen to me Can't you see, can't you see? That when I sleep in my bedroom, oh That I can get injured like a loon, oh And when I ask you to forgive You're gonna make me relive this thing too, Injured by a pillow Stupid thing to do… |

| I need to do more of these. To the tune of the Monkees' " Daydream Believer"... Oh, the Tigers’ bullpen is really weak It needs more than just a tweak There is no one there that I would keep All the closers have signed elsewhere And Dave doesn’t seem to care ‘Cause he doesn’t want to compete Wake up, Dombrowski Oh, how hard can it be To a-find us a reliever And a new place for Rodney You once took this team To a World Series scene Now they can’t come in between Oh, Gerald Laird and Adam Everett Aren’t going to get it Sign a few hurlers and we can redeem Wake up, Dombrowski Oh, how hard can it be To a-find us a reliever And a new place for Seay Wake up, Dombrowski Oh, how hard can it be To a-find us a reliever And a new place for Dolsi Wake up, Dombrowski Oh, how hard can it be To a-find us a reliever And a new place for Zoomy [repeat and fade] |

This is to the tune of CCR's "Bad Moon Rising".
I see a bad game a-pitching. I see trouble on the way. I see no outs and runs scoring. I see bad times today.
Don't go around tonight, Well, Leyland’s ‘bout to take you out, There's a bad pitcher in Robertson.
I hear Miller a-coming. I know the end is coming soon. I fear Robertson a-staying. I hear the ring of DD’s phone.
Don't go around tonight, Well, Leyland’s ‘bout to take you out, There's a bad pitcher in Robertson. All right!
Hope you got your things together. Hope you are quite prepared for the ‘pen. Looks like we're in for a breather. Someone better is coming in.
Well, don't go around tonight, Well, Leyland’s ‘bout to take you out, There's a bad pitcher in Robertson.

| To the tune of Jay and the American's "Come a Little Bit Closer" www.youtube.com/watch?v=I57VmRIr_8QAt a stadium called Comerica Park in Detroit The Tigers have built a lead with some timely hits So Rodney starts to make his way To the mound so the lead can stay And I knew, yes I knew that the game wasn’t going to be saved, yeah We need a new closer Rodney, Zumaya and Lyon all need to go We need a new closer We have a lead in the 9th and no one can throw Now I know that stats say he’s saved 11 games this season The boxscore says he didn’t blow the save but there’s a reason That Leyland put Lyon on display To see if he can do it his way But I knew, yes I knew that the game wasn’t going to be saved, yeah We need a new closer Rodney, Zumaya and Lyon all need to go We need a new closer We have a lead in the 9th and no one can throw When the trade deadline nears, Dombrowski has to be aware Of all the relievers on the block, just don’t be scared To add Houston Street would be nice Dombrowski just needs to pay the price Or Jose Valverde? The games will then be saved everyday, yeah We need a new closer Rodney, Zumaya and Lyon all need to go We need a new closer We have a lead in the 9th and no one can throw |

Doot doo doo doot doo doo doot doo doo doot, Doot doo doo doot doo doo doot doo doo doot, Early in the evenin' long about suppertime over at the ballpark they're starting to unwind 9 boys on the diamond try to win some games Leyland fills the line-up card with all the players names (CHORUS) Down at the Copa right near the street Jimmy and the Tiger boys are playing give a cheer and stomp your feet (Repeat) Grandy's batting lead-off, Polly is on deck Sheff he swings a mighty bat, Maggs is good as heck Guillen, Pudge, and Casey, try to make some noise Craig Monroe and Brandon Inge are striking out with poise (We're singin") Down at the Copa right near the street Jimmy and the Tiger boys are playing give a whistle take your seat (Repeat) Justin gets the first start, Nate is going next Bondo's undefeated, but Kenny's kind of hexed Mike Maroth and Durbin, they pitch with all their might but we just hope that Miller Time will soon make things go right (We're singin') Down at the Copa right near the street Jimmy and the Tiger boys are playing and we hope they can't be beat (Repeat and fade out) |

| To the tune of Marvin Gaye's "Ain't that Peculiar"... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fm4xFlotd-oWell, I know Edwin had a breakout year in ‘09 A three sixty-two ERA is mighty fine Every pitch he seemed to be nastier and nastier But the 2nd half was just one big disaster I know he struck out 161 But Max had that category won That’s Max Scherzer The new Detroit Tiger That’s Max Scherzer The better pitcher Now Jackson’s year was very obviously fluky His ratio numbers show that he was really lucky A two seventy-eight batting average of balls in play was unlikely It is very difficult to duplicate that kind of average, basically But when he’s back to his career averages, Max will then be all the rage That’s Max Scherzer The new Detroit Tiger That’s Max Scherzer A better pitcher Edwin had an ERA of over five before last year At the same age, Max’ is under four in his career You could say that last year Jackson really upped his game There’s every reason that Scherzer could do just the same I know Jackson’s going to be in the NL But Max is going to pitch very well That’s Max Scherzer The new Detroit Tiger That’s Max Scherzer A better pitcher |
