Titanic is about the ship of the same name. I'm sure everybody knows the story to this movie so I won't really go into much detail. At the time, this was the most expensive film ever produced and it was the highest grossing film of all-time until the last month or so when it was passed by Avatar. This film tied All About Eve's record of 14 Academy Award nominations and tied Ben-Hur with 11 Oscars including best picture.

This film is about a mother (Shirley MacLaine) and her grown up daughter and their relationship over several years. In the film the daughter has a few kids, lives in another state, cheats on her husband, etc. The film is kind of slow until one day the mom finds out she has cancer and she then dies a few scenes later. The film also features Jack Nickolson.

Overall, this film won five Oscars including best picture. Of the five, three went to The Simpsons producer James L. Brooks.

Nobody reads these reviews anyways so I won't say much. This is a 3 hour best picture-winning film. I thought it was a Vietnam War movie but most of the film isn't really about the war. The war part takes an hour or so before it even starts. I didn't like this at all and agree with BBC film critic Mark Kermode in that this film is "about 3 hours too long" (actual run time is 3 hours, 2 minutes).

Cimarron is an epic western film that won best picture. This film is about a man and his wife over a 40 year period or so. They abandon their home and move out west to Oklahoma which at the time was an unorganized territory. They live there and watch it become a state and have a bunch of stuff happen until the film ends in 1929. Stars in this film include James Stewart, Lionel Barrymore, and Jean Arthur. Considering the strong cast and the fact Capra was the director, I assumed I would enjoy this film. In actuality, I found this film very strange ...
