Just finished watching yet another Hitchcock film with James Stewart.

According to IMDb.com this film is Hichcock's best and the 14th greatest film ever. I disagree on both of those.

The film tells the story of a man with a broken leg stuck in a wheelchair. He watches his neighbors through his rear window. He thinks one of them has killed his wife. While the plot here isn't bad, it sure does take a long time to develop. It seems like a lot of the developing that took place wasn't all that necessary. This film isn't terribly long, but the first half really dragged. Once it really got going it was pretty good.

The acting wasn't all that bad. With James Stewart, it can't be. With that said, the acting wasn't overly terrific either. Stewart's performance was good enough, but nothing all that memorable either. This was the first film I've seen with Grace Kelly and her performance was like that of Stewart's - decent, but nothing amazing.

While this film is reasonably entertaining to watch, I just can't say this is Hitchcock's best. Vertigo, North By Northwest, Psycho and Rope are all easily better. There's probably others but I've got a lot of Hitchcock yet to see.

74.5/100
C

UP NEXT: It'll probably be the ultra-controversial silent masterpiece The Birth of a Nation.

I love this movie! My voting would be slightly higher. I would give it 80/100.

Your score has been added.

I could see an 80 for this. It did get pretty good at the end but was a little slow building up.

C isn't bad. It got a higher score than Casablanca. It's not as good as North By Northwest, Vertigo, Psycho, Rope, or Rebecca. I logged your 83 though.
