Awesome movie! Set during World War II, a story seen through the innocent eyes of Bruno, the eight-year-old son of the commandant at a concentration camp, whose forbidden friendship with a Jewish boy on the other side of the camp fence has startling and unexpected consequences.

I have read the book a couple of months ago (and liked it very much) and was really looking forward to the cineastic adaption. And surprise surprise.. i like the movie too! The only strange part for me was that everybody was speaking english (british) and not german. I know it helps the commercial success of a movie but nevertheless... somehow strange for me.

Highly recommended!
I would give it 90/100.

Score logged. This is ranked #26.

Since more members here speak American English than British English, I changed the spelling of pyjamas to the more conventional American spelling, pajamas.

As for the language thing, that seems to be typical of war movies. All Quiet on the Western Front is about a bunch of Germans during World War 1 but they all speak English. In Paths of Glory all of the people in the movie (French, WW1) speak English.

American films are very afraid of subtitles. I'm surprised The Godfather has so much dialogue in subtitles. People love that movie and there are hours worth of subtitles. People need to not be afraid of subtitles grouch
