I think part of it was she was supposed to be bad. I mean she was kind of believable. Maybe I need to see it again  At the moment I think it's my favorite Kubrick film.

But I like being mean :haha: I'm such a dork in real life I would never be mean to someone Frown

If it matters I thought she was a better actress than SoulRat made her out to be. Maybe you should watch and see for yourself?

It isn't scary at all...at least I don't see how one could say it is. Maybe SoulRat can comment?

Neither do I that's why I'd say this isn't a scary movie. It doesn't have all kinds of people die or anything. You probably wouldn't like it because it's very Kubrick-like (it's a Kubrick film after all). It's got a lot of randomness and stuff that you might not enjoy. One such scene (perhaps SoulRat can fill you in on it) involves a guy dressed in a teddy bear outfit whistle

I didn't think her acting was really that bad. I haven't watched this movie in a long time, I should watch again soon. This is one of those movies everyone should watch at least once, even if they don't like scary movies.

Nod

If schools were worth a Censored everyone would have seen a Hitchcock and Kubrick before graduation.

No, no, no - not fill her in on the plot, just that momentary scene near the end where you see the guy in a teddy bear outfit and another guy sitting in a chair :haha:

It was so random!

I will, I was a kid the last time I watched it all the way through so I probably wouldn't have noticed it, I mean I thought the power rangers were awesome at that time. I'll probably understand more of the movie this time too.

Wasn't Rear Window a Hitchcock movie? We watched that one in middle or high school.

Yes although I'd rank North By Northwest, Vertigo, Psycho, Rope, I Confess, Rebecca, Notorious, Suspicion, Frenzy, Lifeboat, and The Wrong Man as better Hitchcock films. Still good though.

The Shining is an awesome movie, though it does not follow the book all that closely, the basic idea is the same and Nicholson makes it worth it.

I personally liked the mini series they made later with Rebecca DeMornay but I am definately in the minority on that. It followed the book much better and DeMornay is a much better actress than Shelley Duval who annoys the piss out of me.

I give it a 93/100.

Shelley Duvall annoyed the piss out of Kubrick too. He rode her harder than any other actor/actress he ever worked with, and he was notorious for giving his actors a hard time.
