I didn't think you were serious about wanting this! I'd better sticky it so that it's easy to find. What next? 1920s? I'd go 1970s before 1920s!

Hey, I've heard that song! So far it's my favorite pre-1955 song posted. Unfortunately it won't make my iPod. "In The Mood" is better than this and it's not on the iPod either...although it's very close...it might still get there - "The Entertainer" did!

Judy Garland is dead. Here's a tough one - find a 1930s (or earlier) song where anyone associated with the song isn't dead.

If Garland were still alive she'd be 85 so it is possible. She died at age 47 due to a drug overdose.

She was born in Grand Rapids....not our Grand Rapids!

Lazy River gets a Thumb Down

What's that one Bugle something or other song? Isn't that 30s or so? Do you know what I'm talking about?

It starts out alright, but then it gets stupid. That song has been recorded a hundred times, so there's probably a better version out there somewhere...

Ok, the other decades have reached at least three pages, so there's no reason why this one shouldn't.

1934 - Ragged But Right - Riley Puckett (I'm not 100% sure this is his version, but he originally recorded it in 1934).

I spent a half hour looking for a 30s song, you can at least give us a little more than just stating the obvious!

There's 5 more 30s songs. Surely there's some fans of 30s music out there. Brob and I are the only ones posting and we're yet to find a song we like! I'll give a big Thumb Down to these 5 songs!

I didn't even think to look up any Shirley Temple ones. Over the Rainbow is tolerable, but there is nothing special about this decade of music.

I think we're too narrow-minded! I mean if it was 1939 right now would we be saying "this music all sucks"?

This is the worst era so far though. I think the 1900s might be easier - ragtime music isn't bad. If you go back really far, some classical music is okay. I can listen to Fur Elise.

We got to add this!

1933 - Tiger Rag - Louis Armstrong

From wiki: It has often been played by Dixieland bands at Detroit Tigers home games, and was particularly popular during the Tigers' runs to the 1934 and 1935 World Series.

1932 - Tiger Rag - Art Tatum

I like the piano version better.

From wiki: Art Tatum made his formidable presence known throughout the jazz community with his 1932 recording of "Tiger Rag". This recording continues to inspire and terrify pianists around the world.

Although the other version is the Detroit Tigers version, I'll agree with you - this is better.

Call me crazy, but the piano is actually my favorite instrument. Guitarists and drummers get a lot of recognition, but I like a good piano. That said, I would never go listen to a concert pianist.
