I can't believe he wasn't called up instead of Matt Joyce. Joyce might turn out to be a good player, but I'd rather have seen the hotter player get the call.

I don't think they are going to call him up until they have to because we have plenty of infielders, Marcus Thames, Brandon Inge, Ramon Santiago, Ryan Raburn.

Hessman will be the eternal minor leaguer. He does well in AAA International league but has failed to perform in a Tiger's uniform when he has been called up. He hits a couple of home runs when he gets called up and cools off very quickly.

I believe he is very easy for Major League pitchers to figure out.

Updated stats through 40 games...

150 AB - .307 AVG - .385 OBP - .753 SLG - 18 HR - 31 RBI - 3 SB

He also has 2 3B too! His 18 HR lead the league by 4.

Last year when they brought him up he was doing the same thing, lots of hits and home runs. He gets up here and starts fast, but then fades. Was it just because it was his first time at the major level? Do you think if they brought him up, he would do the same thing - start fast and then fade??

I think right now they made the right decision to bring up Matt Joyce. He is doing great in the outfield and getting hits (another home run in Thursday's game!)
