| If the IOC does not have baseball or softball; The United States should boycott the games in 2012
And gs will lead another boycott; And this one will be bigger. I plan on starting threads in the near future on all MLB boards and as many other forums as possible
Hopefully; people on this board will feel the same; Not having the Great American pastime of Baseball and Womens Softball may even be a bigger sham than the Chinese hosting the games
Reinstate these sports or Boycott!

| There's no baseball because of the WBC. Once that came into play baseball in the Olympics was unnecessary. The best players never played and now they have an equivalent tournament. As for softball, it's not nearly popular enough worldwide. Once enormous upset notwithstanding, the United States is much, much better than anyone else (hence the 53-1 score in the first round).

Professional Athletes have no business being in the Olympics
It should be amateurs
That being said;
NHL and NBA players can be in the Olympics but not baseball
I don't buy that WBC baloney, either
That is such a bogus tournament;[ Didn't that idiot Selig create it?] Even if the best American players participate, they aren't even giving 100 percent because it is held in early March before the regular season; They more concerned with getting ready for the coming season than beating Korea or the Cubans |

| The Olympics is no longer about amateurs. Back in 1896 the idea of being paid for athletics was largely frowned upon. When the Cincinnati Red Stockings became the first openly professional baseball team, a lot of people weren't happy about it. Now paying athletes is rather common and the Olympics is pros as well.
The WBC isn't a great tournament, but it's better than Olympics baseball. People are too worried about pitchers to ever have a real tournament which is too bad.
