| Not really a recipe, but wow! These things rock! I'd never heard of them until today when I saw some at the store and bought some.
Recipe:
Buy kumquats Eat them, peel and everything.
They're the size of large grapes and citrus fruits. They look like orange lemons. You eat the peel though which you wouldn't do on a lemon - you could but really shouldn't as lemon peels taste bad. _________________ Coming soon: A better signature! |

| I dunno...kumquat just doesn't sound like something you would eat....it sound more like something out of the Kama Sutra! _________________ "I'm glad we're in the other division," Terry Francona, manager of the East-winning Boston Red Sox, told the Associated Press. A picture for reference, because I had no idea what they looked like:

| Good picture. Remember though - they're only about an inch long. _________________ Coming soon: A better signature! |

Yeah it is. An inch is being generous - they're like the size of the biggest grapes you've ever seen. An inch tops!
Another recipe: Slice them in half and dip the rind part in sugar to make them less sour.
OR for you drunks... Make a margarita replacing lime juice with kumquat juice. I don't care for margaritas but made one today for the hell of it. It was okay. _________________ Coming soon: A better signature! |

Pie! I can make pies!
That website says they're in season from mid-November to mid-March. So they're out of season I guess? _________________ Coming soon: A better signature! |

You sure do eat it! Good luck peeling the things, they're tiny as The peel doesn't taste like an orange/lemon/lime/grapefruit peel - they're sweeter. _________________ Coming soon: A better signature! |

I guess although I've never eaten the latter. The peels are the same style as citrus fruits but they aren't bitter-tasting like on an orange, lemon, lime, etc. _________________ Coming soon: A better signature! |

| They're cheap, too. I forget what they cost but it comes out to like one-third of what limes cost...at least in CA. _________________ Coming soon: A better signature! |

| For all you chefs out there.
I got bored last time I was home so I made a lemon meringue pie from scratch (crust and all) and got to thinking - while lemons are great kumquats are better. Would a kumquat meringue pie be good?
Also, if you don't like people eating your pies, make the filling a weird color. I made the lemon meringue pie filling purple (red + blue food coloring) and the idiots at my house thought it was a plum pie and wouldn't eat it That wasn't my intention but I thought it was funny.
EDIT: I'm not crazy. A quick yahoo! search of "kumquat meringue pie" and there's recipes galore! I don't need a recipe as I'll just substitute lemon juice for kumquat juice, but that's great news. _________________ Coming soon: A better signature! |

| You eat the seeds on kumquats because you're supposed to eat them whole. Just pick off the stem (if it's there) and pop the whole thing in your mouth. Pucker up as they're sour as _________________ Coming soon: A better signature! |
