Things that can't be denied ...

It is spring training. It is early. It is two games into the Grapefruit League season. And, still, I'm impressed with how the Tigers have played baseball this week. It has to do with things that are likely to hold up. They catch the ball very well. They have a fine infield, with Carlos Guillen looming as a major surprise and plus at first base. Their outfield has taken a step forward with Jacque Jones in left field. They hit the ball hard, as everyone expected. And they just might be putting the final touches on a pitching staff that could be better than anything fans and outside analysts forecasted. I think Jim Leyland, the Tigers manager, understands this. The front office likewise appears prepared for a surprise on the plus side. If there is one ongoing theme coming from the Tigers front office and the manager's corner, it is caution. The execs are being extremely careful not to upset a team loaded with the kind of personnel you might see once in a lifetime. That's how strong the 2008 Tigers could be. There is a long way to go. There are big questions yet to be answered on the pitching staff. But I haven't seen one wrinkle in the 2008 production to date. I don't think the bosses have, either.

That is for sure, they better make good on it, but that is up to how our coaching staff handle the players abilities and personalities!

No one can say we don't have the talent, even our bullpen guys are doing well.
