Free Press sports writer Jon Paul Morosi details the Tigers' spring housing:

Who may live there

Every minor leaguer who is not invited to big-league camp -- except those who are married, joined the Tigers from another club or have four years of professional experience -- must live in the dorm. Minor leaguers invited to big-league camp can choose to stay there. Players in the dorms are not charged for room and board. Because minor leaguers only start earning a salary when the regular season begins -- and many of them earn less than $10,000 per year -- they tend to seize all opportunities to save money.

Some '08 denizens
RHP Jeff Gerbe; IF Scott Sizemore; C James Skelton; C Joe Bowen; SS Danny Worth, RHP Freddy Dolsi.

A typical day
Gerbe wakes up, works out, naps, and then often eats dinner at a chain restaurant like Panera Bread or Moe's Southwest Grill. During his free time, he keeps in touch with friends on MySpace and Facebook and watches television or plays video games with teammates in the dorm

Changes
Major dormitory renovations took place after the 2007 season, with bigger bed frames, new mattresses, new furniture and new closets. The common areas now have flat-screen televisions. Shades replaced the shoddy blinds. The hallways were redecorated with large photographs of Tiger players.

The rules
A midnight curfew is in effect from Sunday through Friday, but it is extended one hour each Saturday night. Alcohol is forbidden in the dormitory. Players are not allowed to invite female guests into the building. Gerbe said he must wear a collared shirt as part of the dress code.

DIY To the Rescue also did a segment on remodeling the Tigers clubhouse in Lakeland, but I cannot seem to locate it on the DIY website.

It had some neat photos to go with this article, but with the Free Press I have to copy them, upload to photo service and get them from there, too lazy so far to do it..

To see what the dorms look like view Grandersons video where he tells about camp, in the videos section.

Those dorms sound like high school-esque rules! Midnight curfews, no girls, etc.

Must be nice to be making the big bucks and living elsewhere.

I just wish I could find that DIY episode. It mainly featured the Lakeland Tigers, but Curtis was on there! Silly me, it was before I caught "Tigers Fever" so just found it mildly interesting! They got a GREAT remodel on the clubhouse rec room!
