Kenny looked so funny watching those pitches zoom past him! He wasn't taking ANY chances as a hitter!

He was just kinda standing there the first time. Then when he hit it the next time he was up, I was surprised!

From Rogers ready to begin 20th season

Quote :
The highlight of the day for Rogers arguably didn't come on the mound, but at the plate. Because the Reds didn't want to use the designated hitter at home, the Tigers couldn't, and Rogers had two chances to bat. He took a called third strike under orders from manager Jim Leyland not to swing in his first time up, but he couldn't resist when he saw an easy pitch in the zone leading off the fifth inning.

Rogers smacked a hard line drive back put the middle, but pitcher Josh Roenicke made a glove stab for the highlight catch.

"The best thing that happened was when he caught that ball," Rogers said. "I didn't have to run the bases." For the first swing of the spring, Rogers said, it wasn't bad.

"Skip told me not to swing," Rogers said. "I blame him."

No

I don't blame them. The NL pitchers have to get ready to bat too for the season.

Up until now the NL teams have gone the DH route, when they play us, on their fields. But we are getting close to the season opening, so I can see them wanting to get closer to what is normal for them, which is pitchers batting.
