2008 Highlights

Established career highs with eight wins, 45 appearances, 118.0 innings pitched and 62 strikeouts as he made the Tigers Opening Day roster out of Spring Training in 2008 -- marked the first time he appeared on an Opening Day roster at the major league level in his career.

• Split time between Detroit's starting rotation and bullpen -- finished 5-2 with a 4.30 ERA (73.1IP/35ER) in 13 starts and 3-3 with a 4.23 ERA (44.2IP/21ER) in 32 relief outings.

• Compiled a 1-2 record and 9.33 ERA (18.1IP/19ER) over his first 13 outings of the season April 2-May 7 -- posted a 7-2 record and 1.93 ERA (70.0IP/15ER) over his next 27 appearances (eight starts) May 9-August 29.

• Posted an 11.2-inning scoreless streak May 18-June 7.

• Compiled a four-game winning streak June 1-July 27.

• Finished 2-0 with a 1.32 ERA (13.2IP/2ER) in 11 outings during June.

• Optioned to Triple A Toledo by the Tigers on July 2 -- posted a 0-1 record and 3.38 ERA (10.2IP/4ER) in four outings(two starts) with the Mud Hens.

• Recalled from Toledo by the Tigers on July 21, he joined the club's starting rotation -- compiled a 3-1 record and 2.15 ERA (29.1IP/7ER) in his first five starts with the club July 21-August 12.

• Equaled a career high with six strikeouts on September 28 versus Tampa Bay.

• Compiled a 4-3 record and 3.31 ERA (54.1IP/20ER) in 22 outings (five starts) on the road.

• finished 4-2 with a 5.09 ERA (63.2IP/36ER) in 23 appearances (eight starts) at Comerica Park.



2007 SEASON

Opened the season with Triple A Toledo, before earning a spot in the Tigers bullpen and appearing in a career-high 34 games.

• Finished 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA (23.0IP/23ER) in five starts with the Mud Hens during April.

• Recalled by the Tigers from Toledo on May 17 -- started the day game of a day-night doubleheader at Boston in place of Mike Maroth, who was scratched from his start with the flu...suffered the loss in the start after he held the Red Sox to two runs (one earned) in 5.1 innings pitched.

• Optioned back to Toledo following the night game of the day-night doubleheader at Boston on May 17.

• Compiled a 1-2 record and 1.69 ERA (26.2IP/5ER) in four outings (three starts) during May with Toledo -- his 1.69 ERA was second-best among all International League pitchers during the month.

• Recalled by the Tigers from Toledo on May 26.

• Posted a 0.87 ERA (10.1IP/1ER) over an eight-outing stretch May 30-July 13.

• Landed on the disabled list on June 6 with a strained right elbow flexor tendon.

• Assigned to Double A Erie for an injury rehab assignment on June 19 -- appeared in two games with the SeaWolves, allowing a run in two innings of work before having his injury rehab assignment transferred to Toledo on June 26... worked back-to-back scoreless outings for the Mud Hens June 26-27.

• Had his injury rehab assignment recalled from Toledo and he was reinstated from the disabled list on June 29.

• On the bereavement list July 27-August 3 while he was away from the club tending to a family emergency.

• Optioned to Toledo by the Tigers on August 23 -- did not appear in a game with the Mud Hens before being recalled to Detroit on August 27.

• Compiled a 1.45 ERA (18.2IP/3ER) in his final 10 outings of the season with Detroit following his recall from Triple A on August 27.

• Established a career high with four innings of relief on August 29 at Kansas City.

• Limited lefthanded hitters to a .207 batting average (17x82)...righties batted .317 (39x123) with Miner on the mound.

• Compiled a 2-0 record and 2.49 ERA (25.1IP/7ER) in 16 outings at Comerica Park...posted a 1-4 record and 3.49 ERA (28.1IP/11ER) in 18 appearances on the road.

MAJOR LEAGUE CAREER

Received his first major league action after having his contract purchased from Toledo by the Tigers on May 31, 2006.

• Made his major league debut on June 4 versus Boston -- taking the loss after allowing three runs in four innings of work.

• Recorded his first major league victory on June 10 at Toronto, limiting the Blue Jays to two runs on four hits over six innings of work.

• Recorded a victory in six consecutive starts June 10-July 8, becoming the first Tigers rookie pitcher to win six straight starts since Mark Leiter achieved the feat August 1-September 1, 1991.

• Tossed his first career complete game June 20 at Milwaukee, limiting the Brewers to one run on five hits -- retired 20 consecutive batters from the third inning until the ninth inning.

• Limited opponents to a .195 batting average on the road (34x174), while opponents batted .351 (66x188) at Comerica Park.

MINOR LEAGUE HIGHLIGHTS

Opened the 2006 season with Toledo, prior to having his contract purchased by the Tigers on May 31.

• Recorded a victory in six consecutive starts April 17-May 15, posting a 1.69 ERA (37.1IP/7ER) during the stretch.

• Garnered International League Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of April 17-23 after winning both of his starts during the week and limiting the opposition to an unearned run in 11.0 innings of work.

• Departed the International League tied for second in the league with six wins.

Split the season between the Atlanta Braves and Tigers organizations after being dealt to the Tigers in a three-player deal on July 31, 2005.

• Combined for a 3.71 ERA between Triple A Richmond and Toledo -- eighth-best in the International League.

• Opened the season at Double A Mississippi in the Braves organization, appearing in four games before being promoted to Richmond on April 28.

• Compiled a 3.19 ERA (36.2IP/13ER) in six starts during June for Richmond, posting 26 strikeouts.

• Assigned to Toledo following his trade to the Tigers organization -- limited the opposition to an earned run-or-less in four of his six starts for the Mud Hens.

• Sidelined September 2-13 with a right forearm strain.

Finished second in the Southern League with 87 runs allowed, while he was third with 75 earned runs allowed, fourth with 10 losses and fifth with 55 walks for Double A Greenville during the 2004 season.

• Posted a 2-2 record, 2.16 ERA (25.0IP/6ER) and 28 strikeouts in four starts during June.

• Named the 26th-best prospect in the Braves organization following the season by Baseball America.

Tied for second in the Carolina League with 27 games started with Single A Myrtle Beach in 2003, while he finished third with 153.2 innings pitched, tied for third with 10 losses and two complete games, fourth with 61 walks, tied for fourth with 63 earned runs allowed and tied for fifth with 74 runs allowed.

• Compiled a 3-2 record and 2.84 ERA (57.0IP/18ER) in 10 starts during April and May.

• Allowed two earned runs-or-fewer in six straight starts July 7-August 4, posting a 2-1 record and 1.75 ERA (36.0IP/7ER).

• Tabbed the Carolina League Player of the Week for July 10-16 after tossing seven shutout innings to earn the win over Frederick on July 12.

• Selected Myrtle Beach’s Pitcher of the Month for July after posting a 2-1 record, 2.75 ERA (36.0IP/11ER) and 30 strikeouts in six starts.

• Named the 27th-best prospect in the Braves organization following the season by Baseball America.

Spent the entire 2002 season with Single A Macon, tying for second in the South Atlantic League with 28 starts.

• Combined for a 5-2 record and 1.69 ERA (64.0IP/12ER) in 11 starts during June and July.

• Fired a one-hit shutout in the first game of a doubleheader on June 26 versus Columbus, fanning five batters in seven innings of work.

• Fanned a season-best 10 batters in a win over Augusta on August 15.

• Limited lefthanded batters to a .208 batting average (52x250), while righthanded batters hit .268 (91x339) with Miner on the mound.

• Named the 15th-best prospect in the Braves organization following the season by Baseball America.

Made his professional debut with Single A Jamestown during the 2001 season.

• Led the New York-Penn League with 90.2 innings pitched, while he tied for the lead with 15 games started and finished fifth with a 1.89 ERA.

• Finished 2-2 with a 1.30 ERA (41.2IP/6ER) and 31 strikeouts in seven starts during July.

• Took the loss in his only start during the New York-Penn League playoffs, allowing four runs in four innings.

• Named the seventh-best prospect in the New York-Penn League and Braves organization following the season by Baseball America.

Selected by the Braves in the fourth round of the June 2000 draft...did not pitch after signing on August 31.

• Named the 19th-best prospect in the Braves organization following the season by Baseball America.

• Graduated from Palm Beach Gardens High School in Florida in 2000 -- selected to Baseball America’s Second-Team High School All-America squad after compiling a 9-2 record, 0.33 ERA and 107 strikeouts as a senior.
