Gammons On Available Pitchers

ESPN's Peter Gammons
names ten starting pitchers who could be available in the coming
months. We'll try to devise a comprehensive list when we get to the
position in our Trade Market series.

Gammons' trade possibilities: Paul Byrd, Jeremy Sowers, Derek Lowe, Rich Harden, Odalis Perez, Brett Tomko, Jarrod Washburn, Zach Duke, Vicente Padilla, and Kevin Millwood.
Byrd, Lowe, Perez, and Tomko will be free agents after the season.
Sowers and Duke are the kids. Harden is the oft-injured ace.
Washburn, Padilla, and Millwood bring burdensome contracts.

Gammons also five "unlikely, but not impossible" scenarios. He suggests A.J. Burnett, Bartolo Colon, Joe Blanton, Greg Maddux, and Ben Sheets could be moved under the right circumstances.

I posted this because I keep hearing, on the radio, that Nate may be up for trade by the Tigers. I guess they are trying to see how to use D-Train, and his big salary, in the rotation, and not the bullpen. I can just hear Leyland -- "How dare A. Galarraga pitch so well and mess up my pitching rotation. Guess I will have to get rid of one of the Tigers good, faithful starters because the fans would revolt if I send down our #1 starter! We have to keep D-Train since we signed him to such a big contract."

Just think, J. Verlander and A. Galarraga are the low paid guys and Justin is starting to get his velocity and accuracy back.

A. Galarraga is at $380,000

J. Verlander is at 1 mill

:nate: is at 4.25 mill

:dontrelle: is at 7 mil

:rogers: is at 8 mill

J. Bonderman is at 8.5 mill

Actually Burndo is the one that needs to go. I still laugh when I think about all the talk about how he would be the ACE.

Don't mess with our starters.

They starting to get the job done.

Tigers have made enough moves since the 2006 WS

We need some consistency here
