PostSubject: Baseball-Reference Redesigned   Fri Apr 03, 2009 2:47 pm

The best place to find baseball stats, baseball-reference has been redesigned and I like it!

It makes it much easier to group stats together by years. What was Adam Dunn's (just happens to be the player I was currently looking up) OPS+ from 2004-2008? 133.

There's also more minor league stats for older players. As far back as Shoeless Jackson! And Willie Mays!

There's a lot more detailed batting stats. They have ratio stats, HR/PA, K/PA, BB/PA, K/BB, etc. Also, situational stats. How many pinch hit home runs did Willie Horton have? 3. I think they had that before, but all the years are on 1 table now.

There's a lot more detailed fielding stats too. How many assists did Al Kaline have at home plate as a rightfielder? 38. As a centerfielder? 7. And a lot of other fielding stats that I'm not too familiar with yet. It would be awesome if they included RZR, BIZ and OOZ, but they don't.

There's even more detailed baserunning stats. How many times did Al Kaline steal 3B? 14. How many times was he caught trying to steal 3B? 6. When Al Kaline was on 1st and a runner hit a double, how many times did Kaline score? 75. In 1955? 7.

There's probably a lot more that I haven't figured out yet.

I haven't been to baseball-reference much this offseason so I haven't noticed the changes. I just checked it out and it is vastly superior.

My only complaint is I don't like the new color choices but who cares about that?

The charts could be squeezed together but I don't really care about that either. All the stats from before and more are there so I can't complain.

There's a thing on the homepage about the new features that I might check out later.
