GDT89: 7/9/13 - DET (49-39) VS CWS (34-51)  - 7:08 p.m. ET

--- VS ---

Detroit Tigers VS Chicago White Sox
Tuesday, July 9, 2013
Comerica Park, Detroit, MI
Game Time - 7:08 p.m. EDT

______________________________________

Pitching matchup

Tigers: RHP Justin Verlander (9-5, 3.54 ERA)

Verlander shut down the Blue Jays for seven innings of three-hit ball Thursday, throwing some of the best pure stuff he has had all season. He sustained his fastball at 97-98 mph, buckled hitters with curveballs and changed speeds.

White Sox: LHP Jose Quintana (3-2, 3.69 ERA)

In what might have been the left-hander's best career start, Quintana still emerged with a seventh straight no-decision. The southpaw limited the O's to two hits over seven shutout innings, striking out 11 and walking just one. He last won on May 21.
