-- FanGraphs SearchBar --

As of now, the 2008 Bill James Handbook projections are available on the player pages.

On a side note, all the minor league players have been synced with the major league players, so there will no longer be duplicate entries for minor league players that were called up last season.

It is a neat tool. 2008 Bill James Handbook projections for Pudge is better this year! santa

A few players of note:

Verlander: 13-9 3.70 ERA, 163 K, 202 IP. 31 starts.

Why so many no decisions?!?!?

Willis: 12-11, 4.22 ERA, 153 K, 209 IP, 34 starts.

(Keep in mind, Bill James doesn't actually approve of predicting pitchers, the system his handbook reports gives very conservative estimates for W-L, K, BB, etc. The ERA and innings and that kind of stuff are usually fairly close but the W-L record especially is often way off).

Granderson: .294, FIFTEEN triples, 22 HR, 20 SB, 5 CS, more walks, less K's.

Cabrera: .313, 35 HR, 198 hits.

You can look up the rest yourselves.

If they leave him the game long enough, like they should!

Go JBL, show them Indians who the real winners are, I hope he gets a no hitter against them!

If this line-up produces anywhere CLOSE to expected, he could win 20!!

I hope so! The problem with the system that book/webiste uses is they don't pick anyone to win more than 15 games or so. Last year said 3 guys would win 16+ games (none of them did by the way). When was the last time MLB had just 3 16 game winners (in a non-strike year)? Try never!

Why so many no decisions? Because of "Captain Hook " Jim Leyland. Which is why Verlander probably won't win 20 but I hope he does!

Looking at Verlander's stats, he actually gets very few NDs. In his career he's left with the lead only twice and ended up with a no decision (good job [almost] bullpen!)

Sadly, those two no-decisions were both last year and in consecutive games:
Todd Jones blows a save vs. KC (2 run lead) and Inge hits a walk-off HR later
Tigers lose @ CHW (a place Verlander is winless - in fairness to the bullpen he left with the tying run on first)

If we hang on to those Verlander wins 20 and probably ends up 3rd in CYA voting.

Also, if Verlander would have allowed 1 less run or got one more out (without allowing a run) last year he would have finished 10th in ERA. Instead he was 11th. Top-10 is where you need to be!

I wasn't even asking for that. The game that pissed me off was the Seattle game. He had like 90 pitches through 8 and was kicking ass and only went 8. I watched that in a sportsbook in Vegas. I was so nervous because after 4.1 IP it started raining and there was a long delay...he was 2 outs away from a CG-SHO!

I remember pacing all over the place and the delay kept going. I was so happy to see him back on the mound after like a half hour delay (which seemed like 3 days to me). He got the win but not a CG or shutout (he gave up 1 ER so the SHO wasn't meant to be regardless).

If only the umps would have waited 'til the inning was over to call it rant We were kicking their ass so they probably wouldn't have resumed the game. 2 SHOs sure would've been nice even if one was only 5 IP. Nobody remembers that part when the see the 2 in the SHO column!

But I was! lol! I hope the Tigers have at least one CG in 2008! Otherwise they will be the first Tigers team to go an entire season without a starting pitcher getting one.
