| That was the game time temp at Comerica!
Love that cold weather. Everybody bundled up! I wore my New Tigers Majestic Dugout Jacket.
Nice to see Home Plate Umpire Chad Fairchild wearing an old school style umpire coat.
Looks a lot better than the Softball Style Jackets the base umps were wearing or the long sleeve black shirts Adrian Johnson and Chuck Merriwether wore behind the plate during the KC series.
They should go back to wearing dress shirts and coats!
Get rid of the Softball garb! |

| Go back to the Outside Chest Protectors. Those were cool.
Jerry Neudecker was the last umpire to wear one.
According to Wikipedia; they were banned by the American League [ the National League always used the inside ones] [ when both leagues had separate umpires] in 1977, new umpire hires had to start using the inside ones while current umps could be grandfathered in to keep using the outside protectors.
By 1985 ;All that were umpires before 77 had switched, died or retired; except for Jerry Neudecker
Neudecker was fired in 85 [ Maybe for not switching over?] and except for Former Umpire Bill Deegan, who filled in with scab umpires during Umpire Strikes 91 and 95, it has disappeared from the game. |

| I think they did that because the strike zone was higher in than AL than the NL.
Most umpires get down on one knee and call balls and strikes. You can't do that with the outside protector I guess! |
